The simplex optimization method has been used successfully a great number of times to
optimize gas chromatography (GC) methods. Some examples of control variables (factors)
that can be included are:
- Carrier gas flow rate
- Isothermal temperature
- Temperature program (initial and final temperatures, and the rate of temperature
increase)
- Sample volume
- Speed of sample introduction
